About Dog Massage

With over 25 years of working with animals -- from training, behavior management & animal rehabilitation to veterinary support, animal massage therapist – Mary Pat's life is dedicated to the well-being of these creatures with whom we share the world & our lives.  Her mission is to provide the highest standards of care for your animal friend through massage therapy.  Sessions will be tailored to each animal – from the gentle touch & circulatory stimulation with your geriatric friend, to the deep tissue massage appropriate to the young athlete. If you think of massage therapy as a “luxury” item, like going to a spa – think again.  Massage therapy can provide tremendous health benefits. Massage Therapy Can:

Increase circulation – increasing the flow of nutrients to surgery sites, injuries, joints & organs which can aid in healing and reduce stress on these areas.

Aid in the release of toxins - massage therapy releases toxins from the soft tissue structures & the increased circulation removes these toxins from the body.

Aid in pain relief – by relieving muscle tension & spasms, releasing toxins & increasing a general feeling of well-being.  In addition, massage therapy can release endorphins – the body’s natural pain killers – and help reduce inflammation.

Help prevent muscle atrophy (loss of muscle tone) – massage therapy actually manipulates the muscles, providing a “mini-workout” which keeps the muscles active & toned.  In addition, your pet FEELS better & is more likely to want to move around which helps reduce/prevent atrophy.

Increase range of motion – massage therapy helps keep soft tissue relaxed & flexible for full range of motion.   In addition, as a result of various injuries or surgery, soft tissue may actually shorten or develop scar tissue, seriously compromising your pet’s movement.  Massage therapy helps to reduce scar tissue & lengthen shortened tissues, keeping your pet moving freely.

Help prevent injuries – keeping soft tissues flexible, free of toxins & scar tissue helps these tissues perform at their highest potential, reducing the risk of injury.

Relieve stress - an often overlooked benefit, your pet can feel calm & relaxed as a result of massage therapy.

TESTIMONIALS:
“Mary Pat knows so much about speeding the healing of a dog's body through massage. My St. Bernard who was recovering from 2 hip surgeries stopped her hobbling gait because of Mary Pat. I felt good about being able to give her something that was so good for her and at the same time brought her so much relief and pleasure.”

“Our 15 year old bearded collie…with debilitating arthritis, a dislocated hip & unexplained hair loss, was physically twisted, hurting, & in great discomfort. Then I met Mary Pat.  The result was amazing.  His quality of life not only returned but also somehow seemed “more.”  He was happy, healthy, and emboldened with spirit and physical ability…”

“My mare, Legacy, has been in Mary Pat's care now for approximately 8 months.  The difference is night and day!!  Legacy was injured as a foal and has a large scar on her right hind thigh and is missing her right eye.  Mary Pat helped this horse regain the full use of her right hind leg, relieved the tension knots in her neck and we are off to a great start for a show year.  I can't thank Mary Pat enough for her dedication and care of my horse. “
